See a doctor immediately
If you are using a non-latex condom, make sure that it is the correct size. The condoms sold at retailers and bought online are usually small or short, which is why they are called small and short condoms.
If you are using a large condom, make sure that it is the correct size. The medium and large condoms sold at retailers and bought online are usually tall or long, which is why they are called tall condoms.

Check for pregnancy

Because of this, I would recommend having one or two kinds of birth control for increased safety and coverage.
Change your prescription
If you’re on your period, your contraception may not work because the estrogen in your contraceptive may affect birth control effectiveness. Additionally, if you’re using a vaginal ring or a gel, it may not keep the body temperature regulated enough to prevent pregnancy.
If you’re taking a hormone birth control method such as an injection or progesterone only pill, make sure to check your supply every week to see if it has run out.
Hormonal birth controls can be tricky and require consistent use for a long time to result in results. Taking the pill when you are young and feeling free from other forms of contraception may result in poor compliance which may fail.
Talk to your partner about getting tested
If you two are sexually active, then both of you should be on the same page about when and how to get tested. It’s the law, and your health care provider can help set you up.
Most places offer a simple test for chlamydia, however there are a few tests for gonorrhea and HIV. As with any test, your health care provider will advise you on when to take the test, how to take the test, and what results they need.
If you’re sexually active, then both of you should be on the same page about using a condom. Even though birth control has been proven not to cause side effects in women, our health care providers still tell people about it because it may not be effective in case of an accident.
If one of you does have an unplanned pregnancy, discuss whether or not your doctor would recommend morning-after pill coverage because these pills do not always prevent later pregnancy.

If you’re using a condom that’s not meant for use with birth control, you could be putting your health at risk. These condoms are called non-lubricated or plain-old condoms.
These types of condoms do not have any lubrication to prevent you from getting a burned or broken condom packet when trying to insert and/or remove the condom. As well as this, if the condom is not correct for your birth control type, then it can cause unintended pregnancy or other health issues.
You can report these types of condoms to your local health department which can tell you if they are safe for use with your birth control type.
Get retested
If you’re on a certain birth control type, you may be more sensitive to certain medications. Some contraception methods require a baseline check to see if you are sensitive to the medication in the form of a packet or pamphlet with the device description and instructions for use.
Some methods require a change in method before your annual check, so make sure to bring your current method if you have an active period. Check your new method in the same way as your last method to be sure it works correctly with your body.
