There are a lot of people in big cities, and demand for quality entertainment is high. This makes it expensive!
Since most people have to spend time looking for entertainment options, they are more inclined to spend money on something fun than something educational or noble.
Because there are so many places to go and things to see, people are more inclined to spend money on trivial items than they would in a smaller city with more restricted access.
Also, because there is so much available, it can be difficult to find good quality entertainment. Most places that offer bad quality entertainment may not have the resources or desire to downsize their operation and quality. It becomes a matter of supply and demand.

MLB TV is a little bit of everything: a way to keep up with the games, learn some Japanese, and get some Serie Italian football!
It’s usually around $8-10 per month, and you get all of your major sports channels as well as minor ones like The NBA or The NFL.
Major League Baseball has done an excellent job at creating a diverse fan base with their broadcasts. While most people can’t speak Italian, they can enjoy the football!
Since most people don’t watch anything in English, having the MLB in Italian is helpful. Many people also enjoy learning another language while watching sports, so having The NBA and The NFL in Italian is nice.
This service is definitely worth the price, even if you don’t need the full soccer or American football coverage.
Lack of competition
Although there are several major league teams in each city, most people know them already- the Champions, The Top Team, or just ones you watched last year.
Being a professional sports town, sports are a big part of life. Even if you do not watch baseball or soccer every year, there is always playoff football and soccer every few years.
MLS is the only major league that has competition, and it can be expensive!

Unlike other services that offer you only one game per day, weekly or monthly plans, you can have as many devices connected to your account as you want. This is a unique feature to this service, as most have this feature missing on non-Apple devices.
You can also watch the games live via their website or app, and they have a broadcast coverage plan that lets you watch the game live but with quality broadcasts.
Fans are willing to pay more for baseball
This is a common theme that we will see across all major American sports, fans are willing to pay more for the experience of watching a game.

The average fan is not watching every single game, they are watching some games more than others, so having an app or tv package that includes some non-game related stuff is helpful.

Unlike the popular football and soccer leagues, the baseball or basketball league is called the Major League. As you can probably figure out by the term Major League, this level of baseball is very expensive.
For example, a advertisers can pay up to $500,000 for their advertisement in a game! That is a lot of money to spend on one advertisement! Although it may seem expensive at first, it goes by really quickly because of the beautiful views that they have of players and equipment.
It’s not just baseball…it’s live sports in general
Baseball is definitely the most recognized sport in the United As, with over 80 million fans around the world every year.
It is also one of the most popular sports in America, with nearly 10 million viewers per season on broadcasts As. Major League Baseball has been broadcasting baseball for almost 90 years, and has spent a lot of money over the years As.
Some of that money spent by As has gone into tvs and other media devices to help promote and engage fans as well As. This is not just for baseball, but for all sports!

It seems like every year there is a new high cost for merchandise and/or streaming & receiving the game in live-streaming.
