Copiers are a staple piece of equipment in office space. They allow you to save and share documents, pictures, and the like with your team or yourself at the same time.
They also make it easy to do a quick check of documents or pictures to make sure it looks correct and that it was copied properly.
But what if you had one that didn’t work anymore? Or someone used it for years but you didn’t use it anymore. It could be better to get new than try to repair it.

Sell it to a personal user
This is the best solution for those who want to use the copier but cannot afford a new one. You can sell the old one to a personal user who needs a copy machine.
You can also donate it to a document shredder company or an office supplies store. Many companies will even take old machines as donations.
If you want to keep your new machine, then buy some type of memory foam padding and put that on the top of the machine. You will feel safe knowing that your data is protected, and it will stop the printer from moving around so much.
Another friend of mine had bought an inkjet printer, so he sold the old ink cartridge unit and bought some new ones from another printer brand. He also bought some memory foam padding so he could put his new cartridge unit on top of his device to prevent heat damage.
Take parts off of it and use them elsewhere
Many copiers are out of fashion now, soarch companies are made to last. Some companies even require you to have a license to use their copier, so it is a continuous source of revenue.
This is true for the newer models as well as the older ones. You can exchange parts and even take off the casework if it is still functional. Many times printer cartridges and paper are more than sufficient to put on a new unit.
If the unit is not obsolete then you can probably give it a nice dust-free home. A fine-meshed screen or case would help keep dust and debris from accumulating on the unit.
Once you have placed your new unit in place, cover it up with some protective material such as a case or cover to prevent any damage from weather or use.

Most printer manufacturers offer free software that can be installed on any current printer. This software can be used to create copies of documents and create printouts, just like a regular printer would.
Some companies also offer complete copy solutions. These include printers that feature electronic receipt printing, electronic signatures, and even electronic filing. Receipt printers usually cost more than just a normal copy machine due to the additional features, but savings can still be realized.
While these features may seem complicated at first, they will help make sense as the year goes on and you use them.
Call a copier disposal company
When you have an old copier that needs to be disposed of, call a Copying Disposal Company. They will come and take your copier for free!
Most companies offer a hotline where you can telephone them and have your copier delivered to any local copy shop or printer for you to purchase. Or you can go online to many websites as well as the manufacturer’s website to find out what models are the most popular models.
Then they will send them to you or they may sell them on Amazon or their own website if they have one. sale may come quick if people know how important it is to have a working copier on hand.
Do not take the chance of having a new one sent out before you need one- call me crazy, but I would assume anyone over the age of fifty might need a new one and wouldn’t bother with it until someone told me I was wrong.
Give it to a non-profit organization
Many organizations that help people with disabilities need old copiers. Instead of giving these organizations money, could you donate your old copiers? They can use these to replace parts or even furniture for their offices.
Many non-profit organizations also do not have funds to replace furniture or parts. These groups are in need of your help and the community as a whole helps them by donating old copiers.
If you have several copies of the same document, give them to separate entities. One may donate the documents to an organization that specializes in helping people with disabilities, the other may give the documents to a printer and/or a fax company so they can send some copies out.
If you have one very large document that you want preserved, give it to the printer and/or fax company so they can preserve it properly.

One way to put a stop to the waste of old copiers is to re-sell it to individuals. If you have an old copier that you would like to keep, then go ahead and buy it from an estate sale or from an individual who purchased a commercial printer as a gift.
Many times, these printers are sold for around $20-$30 dollars and if you had spent some time printing out documents and promotional materials during the year of purchase, then you can easily make a profit off of it.
If possible, look for any water damage or structural issues with the machine before investing in it though. If there is a chance that it will break down quickly, than maybe invest in one that is portable so you can take it with you.
Use the money from selling it to start your own business
Many people have old copiers that they do not want but cannot use. Some have even used ones that are still working but are damaged. You can do something with them.
