Should I use synthetic oil?
As mentioned earlier, straight mineral oil is the recommended oil for Mitsubishi Eclipse. However, if you have an occasion to switch out the oil, then synthetic oil is a good choice.

What about hydrocarbon oils?
As the name suggests, hydrocarbon oils are made from petroleum. There are many different kinds of oil, and each one has its own benefits.
Some are better for you than others. If you were to to try an oil with carbon in it, for example, it would help your body process food more efficiently and possibly help with health issues such as arthritis or diabetes.
If you had a oil with silicone in it, it might help keep your car or truck cool and prevent heatstroke. Many older cars have silicone caps that break off when they age. Maybe someone who has a car that gets hot every day does not want to use an oil with silicone in it because they get stuck on that vehicle.
What brand of oil should I use?
When your oil is too rich, it will look shiny and tell-tale. A heavy oil will stick to the surrounding area, making it look like there is more of it sitting in the pan.
This is a clear indication that something may be wrong with the engine. If the oil looks dry or flakes off easily, then you need to change your oil!
To tell if your oil is dirty, check for oily spots around the car and/or on the engine. If these are majorly prominent, then you probably need to replace your oil.

Others work with the oil it is applied to such as hydrocarbon oils like mineral oils where an acceptable base can be found.
