The doe is one of the most common mount types in North America. Doés are known for their sweet, gentle nature and grace under pressure. They are also one of the more popular mounts for hunting, due to their easy to spot silhouettes and loved by hunters year after year.
When hunting doses, it is important to choose a choke that will not be too forceful or strangle-hold-type of a choke. A gentle choke that can be worked into is recommended because the animal will be more relaxed when it is killed.
The best kinds of choke to use on doves are ones that can be applied in small amounts or less-types of products like softbones or bone blades. These types of chokes can be worked into the skin slightly or underneath the skin, respectively.

Slight offset
A slight offset is when the handle is long enough that the grip has a little space to grow. This can be important for people with larger hands or people who like a bigger handle.
When this happens, the slight offset makes it easier to hold onto the dove and shoot it. A slight offset dove hanger means that the end of the handle has enough room to grow.
The more severe an offset is, the shorter the handle must be in order for it to be held at an angle. The end user must be careful of skin break if there is any on it, because then it may not work well.
The average person should know how to use an off-centre dove hanger in order to hold an excited doodle at an angle and get a good shot.
Skeet
Choke length is a large factor in how long you can hold your target in the air after shooting. Most choke lengths have two major benefits when holding your target in the air: 1) it decreases the ability of your opponent to move their target and 2) it increases the probability that you will hold your target in the air until you kill him or her.
When using a longer choke, your opponent will have a harder time moving their target, which can help you achieve a more secure kill. A shorter choke can allow you to get out more quickly if you need to.
Because of this, it is important to know the correct length of choke for hunting skeet. A common way to measure length on skeet is by using an 18-inch long piece of wood that sits on the ground and faces forward.
Improved modified
A more advanced choke is the improved modified. This choke is less common but just as effective as the beholder.
Like the beholder, the improved modified has two points of impact – point of closure and point of impact. The point of closure is when you pull back on the bar, and the point of impact is when you release it.
The advantage to using the improvedmodified instead of using a regular choker is that you can easily change intensity or location of chokehold when needed. You can also add or remove more pressure from the choking whenever needed, making it very versatile.
An important difference between the two chokes is how much pressure to apply on the edge versus in between them.

Full is one of the more common choke patterns used for doves. It is named full because it includes both upper and lower jawbone extensions.
This is the most common shape of choke used for doves. It can be either natural or modified, and can have one, two, or three ridges. The modified chokes have a slight taper at the bottom where the modification occurs.
The one-choke ones have no change in shape at all, only color. The two-choke ones have a slight change in color, then shape again. The three-choke ones have no change in shape at all, only color!
Modified chokes usually look like little hills with the dove’s skin on top of them. These are sometimes called hillocks because you can see some of the bird’s legs on them.
Light offset
A less common tree species used for chokelining is called off-white oak. This species is typically not found in dove circles, but it can be substituted for other wood types when digging dove holes.
Off-white oak is an extremely rare wood type, being only found in the western UnitedTopic of the United States. It does not grow very well in eastern regions, so most doves are reedbed diggers. However, some enterators do use white oak as their tree of choice.
Because this tree does not grow very well in dove habitat, most white oak doves need a replacement nest every year or two. This allows the female to add another solid layer of feathers to her nest, which helps maintain heat and maternal instinct.
To maximize your chances of finding a white oakdeen brush with your bird, look for a mature tree with at least six healthy nests.
Heavy offset
A choke that has a heavy offset is very useful for larger animals such as deer or pigs. These animals may not fit in a regular dovetail chokes like pheasant or quail.
Using a heavy offset gives the spine of the dove another place to strike. If you are hunting with quail, you would use a medium offset and if you are hunting with pheasant, you would use a light offset.
When doing dovetail chokes, it is important to keep your length right. If your dovetail is too long, it may not retain its shape or function. A long enough dovetail will have longer wings and/or a tail which requires different sized clamps to hold onto.
To find the right offset for your bird, look at their wings and tell whether they are short or long.
Drilled barrel
This is one of the more unusual choke options. It is a drilled barrel. This is the method used to create a choke. Instead of having a normal barrel, they drill a series of smaller holes throughout the barrel and then connects the shot at one location.
The result is an area where bullets can move around before entering the connected chamber. This allows for more rounds to be fired without being overshot, or coming out in different directions.
They are very limited in what flavors they can create because of this, but there are many recipes out there.
Special chokes
There are a few different choke types that are used for doves. Each one has a different effect on food, temperature, and movement. These type of choke can be tricky to tell how to use for dove hunting!
Typically, chokes are paired with hunting dogs that have longer legs and faster feet. This helps them hunt faster and find food more easily.
