At the end of Supergirl and at the beginning of The Flash, there is a pod that opens and a mysterious figure appears.
This pod appears to be some kind of time travel device. If you hit the lightning bolt button, then Supergirl and Barry will meet again in an alternate universe where she doesn’t exist yet.
This is definitely a surprise twist, as many people thought it was going to be The Flash or an alternative timeline version of Barry that showed up. Either way, this will definitely get some attention!

John Stewart
After the pod explodes, we find out that the compound is actually a new drug, called Klyde, that has the power to heal any wound.
Klyde is a brand new drug that has the ability to repair any tissue in seconds. That makes it a very useful treatment for superhero drugs like Supergirl’s Pod.
This drug is extremely expensive, costing $75,000 per dose. However, since it can heal most anything, it is in high demand. This makes it a lucrative business model.
Because of its price tag, only the wealthiest people will be able to get their hands on Klyde and use it for medical purposes. This makes business important as well as ethically challenging.
Hank Henshaw
At the end of Supergirl àlaü, we learn that Hank Henshaw is the leader of the Legion of Doom. This is a big twist, as we were led to believe that he was dead.
Was he really killed off in The CW’s The Flash? Or did his death have another meaning?
The answer is yes! His death was a much bigger message than we realize.
Hank was killed when a bomb planted inside him detonated. His body was recovered and reanimated by Ray Leveque in an attempt to find a cure for who he was and how he died. He joined Supergirl as her partner on her quest to find her roots.
Sadly, Ray couldn’t save him and his journey comes to an end at last meeting his ancestors.
Boy Scout
After the Pod, Supergirl meets up with the Girl Scout, who gives her an invitation to a party she’s throwing.
The party is a double celebration of women and girls, with several women attending and hosting events. The event is sponsored by Boy Scout, so Supergirl hosts a small-scale merit badge ceremony for girls.
This is very exciting for Supergirl, as she has never done anything like this before. She has always had assistant directors handle her merit badges, but this time she’s going to have several girls do it herself.
She also hosts a small-scale transgender merit badge ceremony, which is another first for her. She hopes these extra ceremonies help raise awareness of women in leadership and STEM fields.
Mon-El
At the end of Supergirl, we learn that Mon-El is still alive and that he traveled to Earth-X alongside his mother in order to find a way home.
This makes him one of the few Freshman who has returned since the series began. Most recently, in The Flash, he became a member of the V2 Society.
However, he hasn’t returned as Kal-El and now Earth-X Batman yet. He currently doesn’t wear a suit and instead fights as The Red Hood.
While this is exciting to see him return as, it would be nice to have him return as Kal-El in DC’s Rebirth event. This would bring him back into contact with his home planet and his family again.
Cyborg Superman
At the end of Supergirl, Lena and Superman face off once again. This time, though, it is a Pod fight.
Pod fights are gigantic virtual reality systems that let people battle against other people or objects in large, organized groups. They’re typically for teens or young adults, so there is a set of rules that apply.
You must be physically capable of completing the task you are trying to accomplish. You must have confidence in your ability to win the fight and complete the task. If either one of you loses confidence in themselves, then both of you lose control and fail to accomplish what they want to do.
If both parties are willing to take steps to help each other out, then it becomes a free-for-all attitude where nobody wins and no one needs to rely on others. In a Pod fight, there’s always someone who can beat someone else – it’s not linear.
Lena Luthor
At the end of Supergirl, Lena Luthor appears and challenges Kara to a duel. She’s an incredibly powerful evil scientist with many devices at her disposal.
Lena has created a device that can give people superpowers, and she’s offered it to Kara for use. If she wins, she can take it.
If you read the first part of Supergirl where Lena is introduced, then you know how that goes. Kara defeats Lena’s scientists and takes away her device, which leaves only Lena left standing.
This is a fun challenge for Supergirl to have as she must be careful not to overuse her powers or she’ll end up dead. It also raises the stakes for later episodes as she has more equipment to bring out.
Worldkiller Kara Zor-El
After the end of Supergirl else where, the Pod comes to Earth and brings Worldkiller Kara Zor-El to kill all of humanity.
Worldkiller Kara Zor-El is a brilliant and powerful woman who has become a recluse after she was forced to kill her sister, Kirigakure, when she was young.
She has a terminal disease, and with herculean effort she can live until it hits an advanced stage. After that, she wants nothing to do with Earth, so Supergirl can rule without her.
However, after seeing how much suffering people were going through on Earth, Worldkiller Kara decides it is time to end this pointless existence. She flies off into the stars to find a new home where she can end her life with dignity.
