A13 is a brand of Honda motorcycles that refers to the year the service was added to the line-up. Before then, they were known as ADV bikes.
In addition to riding on trails and up hills, ADV bikes can be very fun to ride. Since they are more advanced riders who know how to ride, they can exchange some control for fun.
On A13s, you get bigger tires and a taller seat which makes it more comfortable to stay on the bike for a long time. These upgrades make sense because people are moving away from fast-food restaurants and shopping into greater degrees with new bike brands like e-bikes and full suspension mountain bikes.
The term ADV implies an emphasis on excitement and adventure over control or comfort.

Oil change
Changing the oil in your a13 Honda is a must. There are some special places to put the oil, and how to do it properly. Most places put about an eight-to-ten thousand mile warranty on their oil, so make sure you have enough time to do this every six months or annually.
At around six thou, an eight-to-ten thousand mile warranty is a good rule of thumb. You can usually find a store near you that does this regularly though, so not a big deal.
To change your oil in your car, you will need new lubricating oil. The new one must be changed with the old one and not applied to new material added into the engine. This prevents internal stresses from setting in with the old oil trying to correct those stresses with the new ones.
Brake check
When do you need a brake check? The answer is anytime, especially if you are driving on paved roads or dirt trails!
Many times when riding motorcycles or bicyclists ride trails, there is a designated boundary for the trail. In these cases, there is usually a sign that reads Brake Check.
This means that as you are walking or riding across the trail, you need to stop and check that your brakes are working. If they are, you’re fine to continue your ride!
A brake check happens when someone tries to use the bike or motorcycle on some different terrain than what it’s trained on. It’s when one person goes ahead and checks the other canals to see if they need any help with braking.
This helps determine how well each person is training their body on different terrain.
Tire check
When your Honda is nearing the end of its life, it’s time to check the tires. You can do this anytime before or after your ride, but we recommend checking at this stage to make sure you have enough tread for your needs.
Tire wear is measured in tread units. The more units the tire has, the longer the tire will last. Some units are better than others for riding conditions, but all are good enough to know that a little more cushion will help you avoid injury when you need it.
When checking tires, look for any loose particles, exposed studs, or any other signs of damage.
Fuel filter replacement
Changing the fuel filter is a must when riding an A13 Honda. You do not want to ride while fuel is sitting inside the carburetor. This can result in wasted gas and/or stuck engines.
The filter is located behind the carbs on the left side of the bike. It can be difficult to reach, especially with gloves on!
To remove and replace the filter, take off your fender protector first. Then, carefully pull out the fuel line from underneath the tank to expose the filter. Now, you can remove it!
Replace it with care, replacing a short length of fuel line can result in a short lived fix.
Fuel line inspection
Inspecting your fuel line is a key area when handling Honda vehicles. While most people think of a car as having fuel lines, the same concept can apply to a car.
When driving on highways or roads, you must have fuel flow to maintain engine heat and prevent the vehicle fromborghitting down while driving. This is important when heading off into the hills or another steep area.

There are a few things that can go wrong with the gas line such as breakouts, clogging, and evaporation which may cause a loss of pressure or tank emptiness.
Battery check
When your A13 Honda starts to lose power, the indicator on the dash will turn from green to red. This indicates that the battery is starting to lose power.
To keep the bike running, you must check the battery every few months. This is a easy way to do this. All you have to do is wait a few minutes and then check it!
You can find a lot of places to buy new batteries but you should never put an existing battery on your bike because it may be too heavy. Only purchase new batteries when they are four years old or newer. Your local honda dealer can help you find these stores if they do not sell them themselves.
During winter months, checking the battery can save you from having to charge it for hours after riding so make sure to do this annually.
Spark plug check
When your car has a spark plug, it is important to check the right one for your car. There are several ways to do this. You can get a spark plug tester, you can buy a special plug, or you can replace the whole plug.
The proper method of checking the plug is to put a small amount of oil on the top of the electrode and then push in as much oil as you can. If the oil comes out clean and there is no dirt, then you have succeed in checking the plug.

Chain inspection
When does your bike need a chain inspection? The answer is anytime, everywhere. There are many places to check the chain including on a ride-along with your bike, at a local bike shop, or even at a Honda service centre.
Many times when checking the chain it is necessary to remove some parts of it. The standard way to do this is to use a sharp blade to cut through the outermost link of the chain.
This can be timeconsuming and potentially unsafe though, so it is best to remove one link at a time in order not to waste time and effort. To ensure you are removing the right amount of chains, there are some standards used.
The number of links that must be removed before changing the oil or tires canister depends on what standards you have!
When removing the inner links of the chain there are some standards that need to be met. These include using a safety pin or tie-off ring to secure each piece, and making sure they are all in the correct position.
