Smaller fillings
Smaller fillings are becoming more popular in dentistry. These fillings are referred to as infilling. Infill is a term that refers to new material placed in place of old material.
Infill is a process in which surrendered bone and tissue is replaced with new material. New material is usuallyplace-made composites that match the shape and texture of the rest of your teeth and maxillae.
Because infill continues to work like old composite, you can have it installed by the same dentist that installed your regular dental restorations. Less drilling
A crucial part of the dental arts is less-drilling, or less-ork. This means doing less precise, more interrupted, and/or non-invasive techniques on the teeth and structures surrounding them.
In the past, there was a common way to angle a drill bit. You would start with a small diameter bit, then add smaller and smaller bits until you had an extensive repertoire of sizes.
The old way of doing things was more-orked, which involved having to hold an intense amount of pressure on the drill bit. This required very high levels of skill and concentration, both of which were difficult to remove from the profession.
Today, many dentists have enough skill to do less-orked techniques, making this part of the art less-menable.
Use of lasers
Use of lasers in dental treatment has become more common over the last few years. This is due to increased demand for quality-assured, natural looking fillings and bridges.
Lasers are a noninvasive method for treating cavityoutheastion. The main difference between a laser and other treatments is that a laser can be used to create a new thin base or surface on an object.
This new thin base or surface can be filled with any material as long as it is white in color and does not contain metals or substances. Because the laser does not work inside the tooth, there are no risk factors associated with this treatment.
However, using a laser can be very uncomfortable at first.
New materials
There has been much discussion regarding how quickly new material should be introduced into the dental profession. This material is called new technology and services.
Many believe it should not be available to the public, but only members of the dental profession. It should only be used by professionals for specific purposes.
Others believe it is necessary for the common layperson to use in order to improve their oral health and overall well-being. They argue that it will help improve individual confidence in users, allowing more people to use it for various reasons.
Either way, there are concerns that too many users will wear themselves out using this technology and destroying their natural tissues with repeated use. There are also concerns that this technology will not keep up with the times as newer technologies become more popular over time.
Mini implants
The mini implant is a new safe alternative to implants for throne-surgery. They were created when an existing anchor device was modified to also serve as a substitute implant.
As the name implies, this new technology implant is small in size. It is measured using either a gold or silver bar that fits into the system and coordinates with the patient’s body to ensure it matches the new implant.
The new small implants are only a few millimeters in size so they do not require precise drilling or placement. They also do not retain their strength or function until another one replaces it, which keeps our patients from needing repeated surgeries.
Because these implants do not retain their strength, we can use them on animals and people with no negative effects.
Orthodontics
Orthodontics is the practice of treatment planning and, in some cases, placement of orthodontic braces.
Orthodontics were created with specific goals in mind, including improving oral hygiene, increase self-confidence, reduce future dental care needs due to pain and other issues, and reducing overall health care costs.
Today, orthodontics are used for many things including getting people into glasses as early as possible and achieving good sealants for children’s teeth. Orthodontic surgery can be performed either temporary or permanent.
Temporary surgery can be done under anesthetic ketorolac or with local anesthetic alone. The patient must be willing to go under the knife but it is necessary due to the post-surgical pain.
Visible dentistry
A visible dentistry technique is using a brightly colored or contrasting material to your teeth. This material is placed over the top and around the area that the cosmetic dental procedure is applied to.
The idea is that if you look at your teeth with afocused on them, you will be able to see the cosmetic dental procedure applied to them. If you could see it, you would be able use it more effectively!
Somevisible dentistry techniques are applying coloring paste or powder onto the teeth and then using a toothbrush or another item to apply the color onto the surface of the teeth. Another method is placing a clear filter over the mouth area where a cosmetic dental procedure is applied.

Tooth-colored fillings
There are several different color fillings that are approved for use in place of natural teethcolored restorations. These include:
Red: A colored or natural tooth whitening gel is put into a cartridge and placed in the mouth to replace the normal colored natural teeth. The cartridge must be changed every six months due to the breakdown of the gel.
Thecartridge that remains in the patient’s mouth must be removed annually for monitoring for continued whiteness and quality of life assessment.
Red was the first color filling approved by dentists, but also the most rare. There are only about 10-15 converted patients who have red fillings in their mouths right now!
Because it can take months for some patients to completely appreciate a red filling, it is important to have a good seal between the new white tooth and the new red one.
