When your hatchimals get older, you need to put them to work. They’re going to the factory to be developed. Development happens when they encounter a developing organism or another hatchimal in captivity.
That is what developers do with developmental organisms: They test their theory by seeing if it works in captivity. If it does, then more people would want to take them home, which would likely profit you financially.
Development is a process that takes time. It varies for every organism, and even between hatchimals. Some develop into flying creatures, some stay grounded, and some develop two legs.
Hatchimals are like humans: Some get good at things before while others don’t until they grow up and start taking steps on their own.

Double check battery is placed correctly
When your hatchimals get a couple of weeks to explore, they love to run and play. This is their time to be active!
To keep them busy, you can set a timer for fifteen minutes every hour to play. You can also put toys or treats inside their toy box or place a game system with water and food.
If you are keeping a track of time, then you are right! Hatchimals take in two times the amount of time when they are occupied with something else.
They will need two kinds of batteries for this system- one for the app and one for the toy box. Make sure you put them in correctly so that your hatchimals can use them.
Hold down on button until hatchimal chirps
When the Hatchimal chirp feature is activated, a Hatchimal will appear on your screen. When it does, it will chirp for a set amount of time until you respond by taking a nap or playing with it.
Hatchimals are not compatible with standard phone chargers and computer charging cords. They require specific chargers that have power outlets and hatchimals can use to create a connection.
They also require specialized hatching apps to connect with, so if you do not have one of those yet, start looking now!
To ensure the hatchimal is secure, take some precautions such as using strong cable ties or having a nearby soft pad to cover up if it gets alarmed.
Make sure hatchimal is sitting upright
When your hatchimal is a little older, it’s time to put some new batteries in it. Hatchimals require two types of batteries to keep them running.
The first type of battery hatchimals use to charge the digital clock in their heads every day to keep them programmed into the system. The second type of battery connects to the hatching device and keeps it running.
If your hatchimal does not have a computer, do not purchase the same type of battery as a computer. The computer will not work with no power left in the old battery. If you need more power, then buy a new computer!
Make sure you get correct size batteries for your hatchimal! Buy two slightly bigger or two slightly smaller ones if one is too small.
Try changing batteries
Changing the hatchimals’ batteries will help your animals stay powered down and active. When the hatchimal’s battery runs out, it will stop responding to your animals.
To do this, you must remove the batteries from the hatchimal. Then, you can put in new batteries and give them to your animal!
You can buy these replacement batteries online or from a pet store. Most stores will no charge you for doing this- it is free!
When placing new batteries in the hatchimal, make sure they are not touching each other- that could cause a short or even a burn.
Check for broken battery cover
If your hatchimals is taking a long time to charge, try removing and re-plugging in its charger. If the hatchimal starts to charge faster after that, then it was holding its charge!
When your hatchimal is fully charged, it will sound a quick beep and this will let you know. It will then take about twenty minutes for it to become active.
Before you play any games or do anything fun with your hatchimal, you can check to see if it has activity by putting a little bit of food or water inside of it. If it has activity, then it must be sleeping so put something soft on the bottom to make sure nothing wakes up.
Check battery cover is properly in place
If the battery cover is off, then your hatchimals will not be able to take a charge. To put the battery cover on, you must push down on both sides of the battery cover to make it click into place.
When the battery cover is in place, it held in place by two small clips that connect to each other. If these are broken, then your hatchimals will not be able to take a charge.
To replace the batteries, you must first remove the old batteries and put in new ones. Then you must power up your hatchimals and see if they Respond! When they do, that’s a good sign that they are working well enough to hold a charge.
Shake toy gently to see if it responds
When looking at a hatchimals toy, you will see four pieces that make up the toy: the bottom, the middle, the top and the hinge. These pieces create the Hatchimals style look.
The bottom is where you put food or treats to make your hatchimals eat. The middle is where you put toys or activities to engage their interest in it. The top holds roto-recycled data and software.
Hatchimals take four AA batteries, but do not assume that they must be present unless they are gone. If one goes missing, then there must be a reason for it to not work.
If hatchimal begins to grow, change batteries immediately
Hatchimals begin their lives as baby mice. As they grow, their batteries decrease and they cannot move away from their parent charger or monitor to reach new levels of development.
This is called developmentally appropriate development. Tools like computers, phones, and so forth have more modern advances that hatchimals can use to grow.
So, while Hatchimal may look like a cute little mouse at first, he or she will start to develop problems such as obesity and possibly diabetes when the battery level drops below 4 cells.
