Earth
Earth is the second planet from the sun. It is also one of the larger planets in the solar system. In fact, it is the largest of the smaller planets.
Earth is almost 6 feet tall and 3 feet wide. It has a thin layer of skin on its top that helps protect it from extreme temperatures. Because of this, Earth does not rotate as quickly or as strongly as other planets.
Because it does not have a strong gravitational force, Earth does not always hold onto things like other planets do. This is why there are no major satellites around other than ours!
There are many places on Earth where you can find life. Some of these areas are under water, in caves, or in direct sunlight.
Mars
While we don’t currently have a way to visit Mars, it’s important to know what it looks like and how it interacts with our planet.
Mars is known as the red planet because of its beautiful red soil. It is also called the home of the humans and mountain people due to its unique terrain and history as a world where humans lived.
It has two sets of rings, one around its primary body, which is a red planet sized object, and another around a smaller body. The small body has been identified as a possible planet-like object.
If we could travel to Mars, we would need additional tools and hardware to get back on Earth.
Jupiter
Jupiter is the largest and most recognizable planet in the solar system. It is made up of hard and soft iron-based materials, a mix unknown until very recent research.
Jupiter is also famous for its four large major zones: Jupitel, Gedanken, Anlage, und Pol. Each of these has unique features and movement, making it a very diverse planet.
The four zones are named for the ideas they represent: justice, courage, thought, and emotion respectively. These attributes are what make up each zone!
Despite being so large, Jupiter is not that overwhelming to look at. Although it takes some time to process its size, Jupiter is a beautiful object in the sky.
It can be difficult to see Jupiter in person, especially if you do not have a good view of it from Earth.
Venus
Venus is a bright and beautiful planet. It is known for its brilliant red surface and unusual clouds that appear to be made out of mercury!
Venus is also one of the largest planets in the solar system, with an area about half that of Earth. This makes it a tough opponent to sleep on!
Like all gas giants, Venus is not composed of solid rock, but rather gases. This makes it much easier to be photographed.
Some images were taken by orbiting spacecraft, while others were captured by Earth-bound cameras. Either way, they are stunning!
When looking at Venus from an Earth-based view point, you can see large amounts of sulfur and silver in the sky. You can also pick out skyscrapers because they are brightened.
Saturn
Saturn is the largest and second most evolved of the planets. It is also one of the least known, which is why we talk about it in this article!
Like all large planets, Saturn has a series of lands and oceans. However, unlike its smaller brothers Uranus and Neptune, it does not have moons like Jupiter does.
Instead, it has rings that hold it together as a planet. The rings also help regulate the movement of the planet around its host, which is why there are no continents or cities on Saturn.
The rings are made up of tiny particles that move around in a complicated way.
Uranus
Uranus is a large planet in our solar system. It is somewhat irregularly shaped, with a long, thin top and short, squat bottom.
Like other large planets, Uranus has a diameter around 6,000 miles. Unlike other large planets, Uranus is not massive enough to hold an atmosphere or conduct lightning and storms.
Instead, it is composed of ices and metal debris from its formation. These conditions create a volatile atmosphere that shifts wildly as the ground heats and cools over time.
These changes result in dramatic clouds that shift from bright blue to dark red as they vary in strength.
Comets
The main objects in the Solar System are planets and stars. There are moons, asteroids, and comets, but we will not talk about them here.
Most of the time, you do not even know whether a celestial body is a planet or not. This is because astronomers do not have a way to determine if a body is round, flat, or shaped like a planet.
However, there are some characteristics that planets have in common that give astronomers clues as to what they are. For example, they usually have an orbit around the Milky Way galaxy and they usually stay close to their family of origin for long periods of time.
There are hundreds of planets out there! Some are very well-known planets like Jupiter and Saturn, but there are also new ones coming out all the time.
Dwarf planets
While Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars are all large planets, they are not the smallest. There are two small planets in the Solar System that are barely inches long!
These tiny planets are known as dwarf planets. Pluto was a dwarf planet until 2004, when it was reclassified as a planet.
The second tiny planet is Vesta, the second largest of the celestial bodies in our solar system. Vesta is nearly half a mile wide and over 1 billion years old.
Because they are so small, many people do not realize that there is space on these little planets for water and other elements to exist. This makes it difficult for scientists to determine if there is life on these objects.
