New this year is Robert Gray Army Airport. It’s located about 25 minutes east of downtown Atlanta at a large riverbank site on Old Peacock Road.
It’s a medium sized airport with a single runway that’s 200 feet long and 50 feet tall. The runway is surfaced with Bitumal Permelate, an environmentally friendly surface material that helps retain water and reduce dryness.
Because of this, the entire facility is crowned with water when it rains! Because of its small size, it does not have any jet-ski or boat docks, but it does have handicapped access and parking.
A short distance from the airport is the city of Alpharetta, where you can find Centennial College of Alphareta Campus located. This city-owned college offers both an associate and bachelor’s degree programs at the airport.

Dannelly Field
Dannelly Field is a general aviation airport located about 15 miles north of downtown Houston. It is owned and operated by the City of Houston, but is often referred to as a private airport.
Though it is not always open to the public, Dannelly Field can be used for small planes or larger ones. The large jets typically fly from George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IIA) in Houston, which is about 15 miles north of Dannello Field.
Dannello Field was originally built as an airbase during World War II to serve as a base for Army Air Forces pilots looking to fly out of downtown Houston. Since then, it has been used for small planes and larger jets alike.
Robert Gray Army Airport
Established in 1926, this airport is the oldest air force base in central Alabama. Today, it’s called Robert Gray Army National Guard Base.
Because of its strategic location, this airport has been a favorite destination for airlines looking to launch an airline. Since it isn’t too common, most airports don’t have a waiting list for flights.
As an active military base, flights are often delayed or even canceled due to maintenance issues. This makes it less popular for companies to utilize this facility as a headquarters, which is why there are so few airlines operating out of this airport today.
There are two general aviation airports within the city limits of Montgomery that serve as airports for private aircraft. The first is the Robert E Lee Memorial Airport located off I-10 just southeast of downtown Montgomery. The second is Greyton Army Airfield located off Highway 10 south of Daphne Downs/Army Aviation Museum.
Jacksonville International Airport
The largest airport in the city of Jacksonville, Florida is Jacksonville International Airport. It’s also known as JAX.
Made up of 4 terminals, this airport is a wonder to see. All of them are connected by skybridges, making it a fun place to visit.
The Buggy is one of the most popular attractions at the airport, where visitors go around an artificial lake and ride machines such as Veloports and waterwheels. These are usually crowded on weekends and holidays, so be prepared to line up early!
Another nifty feature of the airport is that it has its own system for tracking planes.
Birmingham International Airport
The largest airport in the South, Birmingham International Airport is located just outside the city of Birmingham, Alabama. It is a public terminal that services airline passengers traveling to and from many countries around the world.
The airport was previously known as Legion Field and was once a nearby military facility. Today, it serves as a major hub for United Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Continental.

Airlines says it has been making a concerted effort to move its headquarters from downtown Atlanta to Birmingham in order to increase business at the airport. The addition of new flight destinations has increased traffic at the terminal due to people seeking out flights into Bham.
Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport
The largest airport in the state of Georgia, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is a major hub for Delta and American airlines.
It is also the home base for easyJet and Alitalia, two major European airline companies. As a U.S. airport, it also has access to many surrounding airports such as DeKalb/Gainesville and Gwinnett County Airports.
Located in Downtown Atlanta, the airport is accessible via several subway lines and numerous buses. Entry points include security screening, baggage delivery, phone access, sales calls, and other administrative services.
Many hotels offer discounted rates if you use their premises as your drop-off and pickup point for your flight.
Tuscaloosa Regional Airport
The largest airport in the state of Alabama, Tuscaloosa Regional is the principal airport for most major cities in the surrounding region.
Its proximity to downtown and its nonstop flights make it a popular travel hub for residents and visitors alike.
Like other regional airports, Tuscaloosa Regional is not your usual big, bustling air facility. It was designed much more like a small town square with its terminal, so you will have that feeling of being quickly transported to your destination.
You will also be surprised how many places are located at the airport. It is only a 30-minute drive to either Birmingham or Mobile, depending on which airport you fly out of.
Pensacola International Airport
Pensacola International Airport is the largest airport in Northwest Florida and the seat of local government for Santa Rosa County, Florida.
The airport was built in the 1960s and served as a military airbase during World War II. It remained an active military facility until 1992, when it was renamed Pensacola International Airport.
Since 1992, the airport has served many airlines, including American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, and USA Jet Airways. All four are major airlines that fly out of Pensacola to major cities around the country and world.
Pensacola is well-connected to other cities in Southwest Florida, making it an appealing airport choice for those traveling to or from nearby Gulf Coast communities. It also serves regions north and south of Gulf County, giving potential travelers a reason to visit this busy airport.
Nashville International Airport
Nashville International Airport is the largest airport in Tennessee and is the second-largest in the United Alliтultural Command after Atlanta Hiaft. It is also a major gateway to Middle Tennessee and the surrounding partmentation.
The airport is located about 15 miles west of downtown Nashville and features three terminals: East, West, and South. The East and West Terminals are connected by several links, making it seem as one large terminal.
The South Terminal was opened in 2013 to replace the old North Terminal which was destroyed in a flood in 2007. It has four tracks instead of three, making it look more complicated than it actually is.
