You must also compare its personality to your own, see if it has any problems that need addressing, and find a good trainer or riding instructor to help guide it into being a confident horse for you.

Get to know the horse before you buy it
Getting to know a horse before you buy it is important because it will help save you some money and time when you do eventually sell your horse.
When you are trying to find a horse to purchase, you are going to look at its conformation, how it interacts with other horses, and how it moves. These things will help you determine if this horse is good for training or riding or not.
When buying a horse as a training donkey or donkey couple, please remember that the buyer and the seller will be separate people when you take care of this animal. So, when selling or buying if the buyer is able to take proper care of the animal, then the new buyer can trust that animal.

Make sure the horse is tame
It is important to know how well a horse is used to other horses. The best horses are the ones who know their riders and what signals indicate they are ready to go off the page.
How well the horse knows other horses is represented by manners. Nervousness, avoidance, or refusal toward other horses is evidence of a good horse.
It takes about a month for a rider and horse to learn up, so it is not possible to tell when a horse is calm. However, if a horse seems nervous or has trouble relaxing, it may be worth looking into training them at an equestrian facility.
Check its teeth
Check the teeth of a horse by looking for any broken or missing teeth. If a horse has several missing or broken teeth, it may be necessary to purchase another one to re-attach the dentition.
Parasites are very hard to remove, and some Horses may have several over time. This is also true for Horses that have trouble getting and eating as they should. A starving horse can be dangerous!
Some Parasites are very difficult to remove and may require an episode of IV antibiotics to help stimulate the horse’s immune system. When treating a parasitical problem, start with hot water treatments and then cool water if needed.
Sterilisation is the best way to treat a parasite problem as it can be very hard to tell if an episode has caused damage without doing so.
Look at its hair coat
The length of a horse’s coat can tell you a few things. It is referred to as its hair coat or “coat.” Short, thick hair coats arerier horses such as French countryside horses or long-legged hunters such as jumping horses.
Long, thick coats are more stable and resistant to wear and tear. These horses like to graze frequently and enjoy having a long period of time without eating. This is a sign that they are eating enough!
Look at the horse for signs of disease or injury. If you can afford it, buy your horse at the local farm or somewhere where it will have a good environment and get the care it needs.
Stable, trainable animals are worth investing in.
Observe its movement
When looking to buy a horse, you should be able to observe its movement. This includes watching it while it is standing, walking, and running.
When you can no longer watch your horse during normal activity, this can be a sign that it is suitable for training. For instance, if a horse is used in riding lessons, he or she should be able to get on and off the horse without much instruction.
When shopping for a horse, you should look at how well it moves and how well it stays moving. You want a horse that is easy to train and one that does not lose movement quickly. If this horse does not move often or easily, then may be less expensive than another that moves better but loses movement quickly.
Look for horses that are around twenty inches tall with sixteen inch hooves.
Check its temperament
Before buying a horse, you should know its temperament. The way it acts around other horses, riders, and humans is called temperament.
Horses with high temperaments will prefer to ride and train with other horses. This may be good or bad, depending on your goals.
Some temperaments are better than others at learning tricks like dressage or re-fit. Dressage is a skill that can be mastered by either learning or not so good horses.
If you want this horse to be re-fit, you need to go through the training process at the hands of a trained rider. If you want this horse to learn tricks on you, then it must have good eyesight as it will need to see what the ridden move is before trying it out on the ground.
Make sure the owner has all paperwork up to date
Having all the paperwork in order is a great way to keep track of the horse you’re buying. There are many websites that have the paperwork, or the owner can come into your house and have it updated.
It also helps to see how often the horse is exercised, how much exercise it gets, and what level of instructor if anyone has needed help with the horse. If there is a change in someone’s status of ownership, then there needs to be new paperwork too.
Make sure the owner has time for their horseblance looks
Horses are beautiful creatures, so it makes sense to spend time looking at horses. Looking at pictures and discussing what you think makes sense as inputs for buying a horse. But it all comes down to who has time for what they want and what they need for their horse.
What kind of exposure does the owner want? Does he or she travel with their horse? Have they had success with them in competition? All these questions can help find a good fit between buyer and horse.
Get a vet check
Having a horse that gets regular veterinary care is important. Even if you do not take her to the horse barn every week, you should get a vet check once a year.
This includes checking her feet and feet health, cleaning her legs and feet when she has an infection, checking her joints and teeth for injury, and taking care of any injuries incurred during training or riding.
It is also important to get checked if your horse shows any unusual behaviors such as being pregnant, having special needs like arthritis or hip disease, or having unexplained lameness or death.
Getting checked annually can save you from taking an emergency trip to the vet, since most large veterinary hospitals have computer systems that connect you with current patients to determine if you need treatment.
