Coming Home By Lisa Scottoline

Coming Home is the story of a family coming to grips with the loss of their loved one. The family is dealing with tensions between father and son, mother and daughter, and husband and wife.

The theme of Coming Home is accepting that life will always be about you and your family, and that others are there to help them through this time.

This includes having strength in prayer, sharing stories about your loved one regularly, building strong relationships with other families who have lost a member, continuing to participate in shared experiences with your community at large, and most importantly, having faith in God.

The moment

As a young girl, you don’t know what life will bring — good or bad. You make decisions that will determine your path in life, and you accept the consequences.

But as you grow up, things change. People change. The world around you changes — it’s politics, relationships, etc. You stay loyal to your friends, but others may need to be taught a lesson.

That’s when Uncle Raymond comes into play. He teaches them how to be men – how to earn money, how to handle themselves in public and so forth. It’s a tough process, because if you make an error, people notice and say something negative about you.

But like all good men (or women), Uncle Raymen learn from their mistakes and keep going.

The attack

For most of human history, your home was a safe place. You knew the landscape and weather patterns in your area, and you could retreat there if something scary happened outside.

But in the late 1990s and early 2000s, something changed. political protesters, anti-government activists, and members of the security community all used home as a signal to respond or conduct an operation.

Today, your home is more than just a place to live; it’s a symbol of who you are and what you stand for. People feel obligated to protect their homes from threats, or they don’t feel like they can if attacked.

Coming Home is a powerful story about one woman’s experience with this mind-set after she was the target of an attempted terrorist attack. She will explain what she learned from this event to other people going through similar situations.

The aftermath

Coming Home is the second novel by Lisa Scottoline to be published. Like her debut Coming Home, This One’s for You!, This One’s for You! was a Kindle First release, which meant that you had access to it long before it was released in print.

Coming Home is the story of Sam, who returns home after being held hostage for six months at a mysterious compound in North Carolina. Sam has always dreamed of coming back to his small town, but knows he can’t return until he finds the compound and its victims safe and sound.

At first, Coming Home feels like another “single person returns home after kidnap” story, but Once Upon a Time in Abandonded Sighting has shown us that these stories don’t have to end that way. Once you find your people, you can finally let yourself truly live!

Justice?

Coming Home is the tale of a man named Danny, who returns home after a long and grueling assignment abroad. Upon his arrival, he’s surprised to find his wife and two children living together in a new apartment.

Danny was not only away for a long time, but also wasn’t fully committed to their family while he was gone. His wife, Cathy, and kids, Alex and Sylvie, were very open about having other relationships and didn’t reject Danny when he arrived.

This rejection hurts Danny more than anything. He loves these people more than anything, and he knows they deserve so much better from him than what they got from him.

But it doesn’t just end there for these individuals. They weren’t choosy about each other at all. They fought all the time, they separated and reunited—it was like they were made out of different materials with no understanding of each other.

The hero

He comes home to a strange, unfamiliar place. That’s what most of us do when we leave home for the first time. You leave your home and family behind for a year, or several years, depending on your location.

When you return, you come back to those things and people that mean something to you as a person. Your previous life, your past lives, things from your childhood, things from your life now.

These things matter to you because they were part of your life before you left home. Home is where you take care of yourself and where you feel comfortable. Home feels like a safe place to assume control of my life again.

Coming home (again)

When my brother was in his late twenties, he had a mid-life crisis. He wanted a new car, a new job, and a new life.

He left home at age 24 with no plans other than to live and work away from home. He swore he’d never look back, always going after what he wanted in life.

Five years ago, he made the decision to return to his hometown to get married and start a family. Since then, he’s found a great job and is living the life he wants.

But something wasn’t normal about him since he returned home. Something was different about his behavior and feelings, but he couldn’t pinpoint what was wrong. It was as if someone shuffled off the stage but didn’t leave an explanation.

The trial

When a senior citizen lives in a retirement community, she gets asked to come home for dinner and/or a movie sometimes. It’s always nice to visit your grandchildren, too!

Many communities offer the practice of hairdressing for years, as well as shopping sprees and other big ticket items you’d normally buy at the store.

The grandkids love going so it’s a win-win! Many times they invite friends over, so if you are good at cooking, you can do that. You also get to spend time with your loved ones before you both go to sleep.

Old people TV is a great resource for cooking lessons and videos so coming home is easy access.

Life goes on

Coming Home is a tale of family, divorce, and redemption. The main character, Coming Home re-evaluates her life after her husband leaves and she loses her children.

She discovers that she is responsible for taking care of other people’s children, and that she must let go of the past in order to move on.

This novel will make you think about the lives you have lived before and what you would like to change about them. You will also look at your own past with a different perspective as you read Coming Home.

You may also find yourself thinking about how this changes you as a person, since You may have been working on yourself before, but after reading Coming Home, I know that I developed a lot more confidence while taking care of others.
