To determine if a 1 inch diameter ring fit my window, I looked at the outside and saw that it was about an Inch thick. I then looked at the inside of the ring and saw that it was about an Inch and a half wide.
Check the size of the opening of the window or door
If the house is large, you may need a larger curtain bracket. A small window may require a small curtain ring. A large window may require a large curtain ring.

Measure the width of your curtains

Both are accurate ways to tell how much room you have for your window display, depending on where your display is placed.
If you have a very narrow window display, one with only one big window, then a very short length of double-sided tape can work wonders.

Most people find it tricky to measure the length of a single-pile or double-pile style of curtain. The standard length is windows or doors distance in centimeters or feet, then you divide by 12 to get the width.

The easiest way to measure the length of curtains is to wrap a couple of layers of paper around a window or door and then measure the length of the paper. Once you have measured this amount of paper, cut an additional piece of similar material which will be used as the lining for your curtains.
When placing your new curtains on the frame, make sure they are tied securely at the top and bottom. If they are too loose, they will eventually fall off. If they are too tight, they may stick out even when opened due to excess fabric coming over them.
