People who attend closed Al Anon meetings are called attendees. These meetings are designed for people to talk to each other and learn how to open up and trust others in Spirit.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss issues related to spirituality and the human experience. There is no agenda item or specific goals set at closed Al Anon meetings.
Generally, attendees are looking for ways to improve their self-confidence and understanding of life. They may also be looking for ways to reduce their anxiety while meeting with others in Spirit.
Many find closure at closed Al Anon meetings because they were able to identify with what someone else was going through or found peace through this topic area of meeting with others in Spirit.
There are many types of closed Al Anon meetings, but the most common ones have something like the following: meet two people, one week before an event that might involve only two people, discuss plans together before the event begins.
Where are they held?
There are many anonymous communities, lots of them. How do you find your community? Do you have to join a meetup group or channel to join?
The key is in finding a place where you can feel comfortable and safe to discuss confidential matters without judgement.
You don’t need to be an introvert or shy like others to participate in a closed meeting, this is for non-intimate groups and clubs.
It can be a helpful way to de-stress and connect with others while doing something that you love and that you would enjoy getting paid for.
A closed meeting can be any type of group meet-up where the purpose is to keep information private or gather together only those who truly need to hear what someone else has to say. The person who meets up alone for this purpose.
These types of meetings are not common but they are very helpful when needing a quick pick-me-up.

Many meet at bars or clubs that have TVs and atmosphere, so that they can see other members attending the meeting and potentially talk to each other. It is up to the member to decide if they want to do this or not.
It is normally considered bad etiquette not to attend closed meetings as reaction times are reduced, especially with alcohol involved. Also, since information is revealed at meetings, members often get criticism from outside the group for being weak or paranoid.
This can lead people into thinking they need to increase their self-confidence in front of others in order to succeed at an Anon meeting which can be painful and stressful.
How can I find a closed meeting?
There are many ways for people to find an Al Anon meeting. Most group members have experience finding meetings through word of mouth, through membership announcements, or through closed meeting information.
Some meet in their homes, some at their local AL Anon chapter offices, and some on the internet. All are welcome!
There are many benefits to having a closed meeting such as: privacy, convenience, scheduling ease, and most importantly: secrecy. As mentioned earlier, members do not want to be forced to reveal the location of the meet unless they feel comfortable doing so.

When asking others about meetings and whether they attend meetings or not., it is important to include oneself into the conversation. It is your meetable community that they connect with others via open meetings.
What if I have questions about the meeting or the program?
You can ask questions at any time, even after the meeting is over. The staff will be happy to answer you!
However, you must wait until a staff member has a chance to respond before asking another person a question. This way, they can ensure people are getting answers and not just talking about others.
Once someone has an answer, they must put it into words so that other people can understand. If they do not feel comfortable saying it in their own words, then another person can help make it more accessible.
There are many ways to learn from meetings and programs so that you can improve as an individual or Anon. People find all sorts of things to share with them, from speakers to program activities.
What if I am late?
If you are late for an anonymous meeting, you may get kicked out of the meeting or asked to reschedule the meetin due to someone being late.
Meetings are usually held on Fridays at noon Central time. You can look up upcoming meetings on their website or call (859) 486-6756 to be notified of the meeting.
If you are late, you may not be able to attend the meet-n-greet or any other event that follows the anonymous meeting. You would also have to pay for your spot in order to attend, and if someone is already attending, you could go somewhere by yourself!

What should I wear to the meeting?
At a closed meeting, the leader decides what clothes people should wear. This can be an open or closed meeting, it does not matter!
For an open meeting, everyone can come as they please, as long as they are dressed appropriately. For example, someone wearing a shirt and shorts would be appropriate attire.
A jacket and skirt would be appropriate attire for a jacket and skirt combo. It is up to the leader whether or not these clothes are required to attend the meet-ings or not.
For a closed meet-ing, the required clothes must be worn and visible.
