The Samsung Gear S3 Frontier is a smartwatch that comes in two sizes: large and small. The small version is more appropriate for women due to its size-friendly shape.
The large version can be worn on the wrist or attached to a pocket pouch. Both versions have a round face and button display. The smaller version has an additional button on the left side for sensors.
The larger version has more functions and features than the smaller one. The larger version also looks better on wrists as it is thicker. It also comes in black, white, and slate grey colours!

Gear S3 compatibility
If you have a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, then you should be able to use the Gear S3. It will connect to your phone via Bluetooth and receive notifications and alerts!
The biggest issue is that your phone will need to be charged while connected. The app will send notifications and alerts, but not until you have your phone connected.
However, this compatibility can make up for some of the issues of the Gear S3. If you are looking for a smartwatch that tracks daily activity, does not need a strong screen size or strong battery life, the Gear S3 is for you.
Gear S3 colors
As the name suggests, Gear S3 colors. It offers six color options, each one being a rare find. These include: white, navy blue, pink coral, light brown, and dark brown.
Gear S3 is currently available in five-color varieties of black, white, light gray, and dark gray. This is an exciting feature as there are still lots of colors to discover.
Visually appealing themes are a nice touch as they promote user engagement and recognition. By having different colored Gear Smartwatchs, users can quickly and easily tell which one is the one they want to wear.

The frontier or classic mode feature has been changing over the years. Originally introduced as a premium feature in the samsung Gear S3 collection, it has become an essential part of all newer versions.
This mode can be changed via a new button on the watch face that pops up when you are in a special mode such as calendar or message alerts. You can also turn this off but then you would be missing out on some great features!
Sensors have become more and more important as time goes on. Many people no longer are reliant on just the clock and calendar functions on their smartwatch, however.
Which model?
The new Samsung Gear S3 is now almost a year old, and Samsung has yet to release a Frontier model. If you want the feature-limited version of the smartwatch, you’re stuck with the standard Gear S3.
If you want the full smartwatch experience, there are no replacement bands available at this time. The only way to get the full smartwatch experience on the Gear S3 is by using Samsung’s Touchwiz app on your phone as a framework.
This app provides notifications, calls, messages, and any other content that needs to be delivered on your watch. It also accesses your phone through its services and updates my watch accordingly.
What’s new?
New to the Samsung Gear line is the Frontier, a step down from the Gear S3+. It has many of the same features, but with less depth and value.
The Frontier is geared more for users who are looking for a new smartwatch experience. If you are looking for something more minimalistic, then the Frontier is for you.
If you are more into modern looks and tech like I am, then the Rounder will be what you are looking for. The Black version has some pretty stylish accents against your skin (I bet you would look great in it!).
Both models have Bluetooth transmission, are water resistant and work with standard watch straps, just make sure they are not too big! Both also have music playback capabilities.
Does it have a GPS?
The Frontier has a GPS which allows you to track your steps, sleep and rest apnea sensor and show you your overall health. This is great as it can help show you how much daily exercise you should be doing to maintain good health.
The GPS is not built into the Gear S3 but in the Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge. You must connect it via a special app to access the function.
As far as functions go, the GPS can be used for several things such as tracking workouts, finding places to run, or even just looking at race times on websites for fun.
One thing to watch out for is if the device has a mobile app for it.
Can you make phone calls with it?
No! At least not yet. Nevertheless, it does feature a speaker so you can make phone calls if you want.
The Frontier has a microphone at the top and a button at the bottom. You press the button to make a call and then answer with your response template.
When you want to end the call, you press the button again to confirm. The Frontier then transfers your call to your phone and sends an answer request. You must then matching your voice to the message sent!
This is not used often, so most people get rid of their phones when making a call. However, having an easy way to do things is nice.
Battery life
The Gear S3 is a mid-range smartwatch that can last up to a week on a charge. While not having an eleven-day battery life, the Samsung Gear S3 does well for how powerful it is.
The S3 runs on Qualcomm’s Aqstic Processor, which is an average processor that doesn’t do much, but can hold you over for a week. More than half of the people who purchase the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier are active users, meaning they will be wearing it every day.
Active users will most likely be wearing it during work or when they are having some downtime to enjoy themselves. Since it is a smartwatch and not a watchface, activity tracking gets rid of some of the need for a daily fitness tracker.
Because it only has a seven- and fifteen-hour battery life respectively, users must be careful about how often they charge their device.
