Implanon is a birth control method that is inserted into the uterus at stage one of pregnancy. It works by preventing the release of egg and sperm within the body. This includes inside the subvocal area, where it is heard but not seen.
This method can be difficult to remove at home, however. There are a variety of places where you can get it repaired or replaced. Most reliable home remedies involve mixing together equal parts vodka and water until a thick paste is formed. This can be spread onto the implant and let sit for several hours before removing and replacing with new Implanon.
Some people have reported success using absorbable pens as well as simple rituals such as mixing water and vodka, but neither one seems to work for me! I recommend looking up this article if you are unsure whether or not your Implanon has stage two or stage one removal needed.

Make sure you know how to locate the implant
Most women who have their implant removed at a health insurance company–sponsored home health aide program or through the Internet learn how to remove their Implanon at home using a few steps.
If you haven’t had your implant inserted yet, then you can still take steps to remove it. You can use one of the many ways to remove an implant. Some of these methods include: Using a paper clip, A hairpin, A sharp object, A credit card payment card & PIN, And Using ice chips and/or bandages.
Of all of these options, only using a paper clip and/or a hairpin might seem difficult or awkward.
Make an appointment with your doctor
Implanon is a hormone that changes your composition of body fat and muscle. It works by changing the amount of fat you have in your body.
As an implant, it can be placed under the skin anywhere. You cannot just put it in and take it out. It must be inserted and then removed under medical supervision.
To remove it yourself, you need to use a sharp object to break the plastic housing off, followed by a solution that removes the metal backing and returns it to a liquid state. Then you can peel away the film and insert the implant yourself.
This is done by using a small needle or similar device to puncture the film around the insertion site, followed by water or other irrigation to return the device to liquid state, and finally pulling out the implant.
Bring someone with you to the doctor’s office
If you have a community where your implant is placed, bring someone to remove it at home. It is very easy.
You will need a special drug called an antibiotic, which is usually given before and after the implanon. The drug stops the device from working.
Then you can take it out, wash it out, and put it back in if you have changed your menstrual pattern or are subapking. This can be done several times until the implant is out or when it comes out.
Some people cannot take the antibiotic due to allergies or because they do not have a doctor to give it to them. Then you can bring another person to help you take it out if you want to.
If this sounds too difficult or risky, then do not try this treatment at home as some people may get sick after taking the drug and removing the implant.
Take pictures of your implant location before removal
This can be helpful if you have difficulty removing the implant or if your surgeon has changed hands since planon implant surgery. You can then see the new location of the implant in case of need.
It is recommended that you take your Planon Advantage out at least a day before removing it to make sure it is still seated well. Once removed, dressings can be washed with water and dried on a dryer.
Some surgeons may recommend using a different brand of contraceptive for one week after planon implant removal to see if there are any side effects. If so, this brand may be switched out and another one used until they stop working or if they get loose.

Prepare for removal by exercising your arm muscles
In order to remove Implanon at home, you must be able to do so in either step one or two of the WHOA removal process.
In step one of the removal process, you must be able to remove your arm from the Implanon insert. In order to do this, you must hold your arm at an angle for about five minutes before removing the insert.
After five minutes has passed, you can begin removing the Implanon. You can gently pull on the insert until it comes out. Once it does, you can wash it in a bowlful of water and let it dry before putting it back in.
In step two of the removal process, you must put on a rubber band around your wrist and then take your arm out through the door or through a window.
Remove the implant properly after preparing and timing it
As mentioned before, the Implanon-less cycle can take a few days to get into. This is due to the implant staying in your body for some time after removal.
To remove the implant, you must first take a week-long break from taking your Levonac. This can be done as scheduled, either by taking it as a shot or by having it inserted into your arm.
After this break has taken place, you must then prep your body for removing the implant. This includes taking some depo-hep A and letting your body recover from the side effects. Depo-Hep A is a shot that keeps your system ready for removing the implant later on.
Take care of the wound after removal
After the implant is removed, the doctor can either flush it with cold water or use a warm wet cloth to gently clean it.
This process can be uncomfortable, especially if you are removing it at home!
If you choose to take your implant away at a later date, make sure to wrap it well in an alcohol-free absorbent paper to prevent wetting the floor.
If you need to return for a few weeks or longer, cover the implant with a loose bandage or incision sheet to prevent it from freezing. If you need to remove it faster, use a freezing method such as ice bath or cold water flushing.
When removed, both partners should communicate their notes to the next partner. This way, another person can help remove the other partner’s implant if needed.
Replace with a new implant after healing
Implanon can be replaced up to five years after the implant is inserted with a new one. This is an option if you were not able to take the prescription away at your doctor’s recommendation.
Re-implanting the implant is very simple and can be done at any hospital or doctor’s office. You will need a small amount of tissue from your gums, a pin connected to the implant, and some glue.
The glue must be used within a few days of taking the pin out so it has time to set up. The tissue must be re-glued once it is re-installed, and finally, you must send it back in for yours to replace it.
It takes about an hour per person to put it back on and take some glue times, so you have time to think about what you want your next implant to look like.
