Make sure the seat is clean and dry
If your baby has a skin condition, make sure the car seat is dry and clean. If your baby is allergic to any part of the car seat, make sure it is all dry and clean.
Also, if you are going to use a shopping cart with this car seat, make sure it is also clean and dry. If not, put it in the wash!
To install the car seat, first make sure you have enough space between the infant insert and the bassinet or cot. Then, remove the infant insert and put in your baby. Make sure the straps are tight enough for your baby so that they cannot move their arms or legs.
Then, turn on the bassinet or cot and let them sit for about an hour to let them settle before attempting to turn over or start sleeping.
Open the car seat box
Once your car seat is installed, it is time to open the box! You can do this either by removing theseat from the box or by pulling down the slideout.
Either way, once you do, you can put it away for next time!
Put your car seat in the box facing out and then pull out the magnetic closure. This will reveal your seat and make it easy to remove or install next time.

Once all of these things are removed and/or removed from the box, then you can install it! Make sure that all of your connections are secure and that there are no gaps anywhere.
Remove the car seat from the box

Remove any straps or tangles
Once your baby is in the car seat, it is time to unstraps them! If your baby has a infant car seat, remove the infant first. If you have a convertible seat, remove the base first.
If your baby is old enough for a half-carrier position, then do so! Once the baby is in their proper position, put the carrier back in place!
Reminder: When installing a Britax Car Seat, always use the correct size base and strap size. If you have an older child with large muscles or an adolescent with too much padding, use the smaller base and straps size.
Place the car seat onto the base
Next, position the infant over the rearward-facing position and under the canopy. Next, place the safety attachable straps around the child’s back and tighten them.
Reach behind the child with one hand to securely fasten the straps at their back. Then, pull and ease the strap away from the child until it is secure.
This process may take a few tries because children can be nervous about being able to access their spine. Once you get it down, it is easy!
Repeat for each of the four rearward-facing positions and then for one of those two forward-facing positions.
Make sure it is level and not crooked
If the car seat is level, then it will stay that way. If it is funny, then your baby will be laughing when they are in it!
If it is flat, then it will not protect your child as well as if it is angled. This may not matter if you have a large baby!
It takes a little bit of trial and error to find the right angle for the car seat, but once you do, you will wonder why you ever used another one. It can be frustrating at first, since there is no quick fix, but soon you are going to love the new level of comfort your baby gets.
Make sure to check your baby’s weight before using an adult sized car seat so they do not over-tighten the straps or risk worse injuries to themselves or their child.

The reason for this is that when using a cloth-type seat, the user can get caught with their fingers inside the installation process and unable to remove it. With a metal or plastic installation, you do not have to worry about getting stuck!
