Pine sol is not classified as an oil, so it does not easily break down in water. It does contain sodium carbonate, which does work as a drying agent.
So, if you want to get rid of the smell, you must use something that contains sodium carbonate and vinegar. This way, the vinegar dissolves the carbonate, which is then removed from your air. You can also sprinkle some baking soda over the spot to eliminate the smell.

People with respiratory problems or those with weakened systems should also take care to keep adding new sheets and towels. This is because the detergent may be harmful if it gets into your skin.
