Using a device such as a Google Home is the best way to control lights in your home. By using the right devices together with Home, you can create light zones in your home!
Mostly used for kitchens, islands, and rooms where light is needed, this is a great way to add function to your home. By adding music or voice control to Home, you can also control lights!
Upcoming features being added to Google Home include colorblind mode and security. Both of these features will likely be updated frequently, so check back for updates soon.
Currently, only white or gray lights are compatible with this feature, but this does not mean that other colors cannot be controlled. It only means that they must be replaced with light types that match the rest of the room.

Now that we are familiar with how to control lights with the Home, let’s look at some ways to do so.
There are several applications for the Home including command line, web app, and Apple Watch functions. These features make it possible to turn on and off lights using the Home as well as other devices.
The command line function is available via the Home’s web app as well as through Apple Watch apps. To use the command line function, we need to create an instance of the Home via the web app and then enter a command via the line of sight.
To use the Apple Watch function, we need to have Siri send a message using the Hand-Free Voice Command feature.
Connect your Google Home to your wireless network
At first, you’ll need to connect your Google Home to its wireless network via a network connection. This is done by setting up a router or network administrator for your home.
Then, you can control your Home via the internet!
To do this, go to the Home’s app and click on the blue gear icon. This will show you the Home’s other devices. You can then click on one of these devices and enter a command. For example, to turn off the lights in your house, you would enter somma tap tap .
This is very helpful as it does not require you to be at an electrical outlet or device to control them.
Connect your Google Home to the light bulb you want to control
This is the most important step to taking full advantage of this feature.
After the command word is said, the ceiling must be lit in order for the light to show. Most homes have a few lights on the ceiling that indicate water heater, circuit breaker, and air conditioner.
By using this feature, you can control many of these lights! For instance, if the water heater is on, say on a hot water tap or if an A/C unit is on, say when it needs to be replaced.
Using this feature will cost you some money as each unit will require a sensor and possibly wiring but it will be well worth it in savings.
Say the command word to activate the light
This is the most basic command. With this, you can turn on or off lights in your house. If you have ceiling fans, you can also flick a switch to turn the ceiling fan on and off.

Lights has a smart device app that you can use to connect your device. This app has multiple features, but the one for Home is Night Replacer. You can use it to turn on and off lights in your home as well as add additional lights to the system.
One of those features is being able to add a second Home unit. You can then link it using the app and have two devices control the same light. This gives you more control over how much light you want out of the unit and how people can access it.
Another feature of Lights is their dusk to dawn sensor. When this goes off, it will switch from night mode to daylight mode which will increase the amount of light coming from the unit.
Sync different devices together for easier use
Using the device as a remote is the most common use for this feature. You can control your lights via your smartphone or computer, and then you can turn on and off the light via your phone or computer.
