The 6.7-inch powerstroke is one of the most popular powerstroke engines out there. While it is not the cheapest engine out there, this powerful motor is a worthwhile upgrade over the standard 5.0-liter v-8.
The 6.7-liter v-8 was developed in 1991 by Chrysler as an answer to Ford’s then new 7th- and 8th-generation Ford F150 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500, respectively. The introduction of these large trucks marked the start of a long period of dominance for Chrysler in the market.
The 6.7 was not released until 1991, so it did not make its debut until 1992 when both trucks were introduced. This year also saw the adoption of this engine into passenger cars including an Oldsmobile Toronado pickup truck and an Oldsmobile 96 Tahoe SUV!

Tune for power

Powerstroke engines require special oil because of their design. The crankcase contains the oil reservoir, and the crankcase must be completely full of oil before starting it up. This requires removing the engine from its housing and adding new oil via a pan and bottle set.
Once installed, this power stroke kit will prevent the crankcase from drying out during intense driving, making future power strokes easy to access. It will also add some additional cost to your vehicle, but it will greatly improve performance and maintainability of your truck.

Delete down pipes
If your powerstroke diesel is already low on oil and gas, you can save some money by deleting down pipes. These cuts off the oil and gas flow to the crankcase when needed, saving both valuable resources.
When doing this, be sure to check your oil and gas levels often to make sure it’s saving enough fuel. It can take a long time for one engine to completely purify its oils and gasoline!

Install high-flow cats
If your powerstroke has a non-removable oil pan, you can install high-flow cats to save some oil flow. These cats connect to the pan via a hose and prevent excess oil from draining away.
To install the cat, first remove the drain plug by turning it counterclockwise. Then, disconnect the fuel line by removing the fitting on top of it. Finally, connect the hose to obtain your cat.
To remove your cat, first pull out one of its legs by rotating it clockwise; then pull it out gently and let it drop down. You should do this after adding new oil or after an extended period of time having no oil on it.
Installation can be done by someone with experience in few minutes if followed properly.
Switch to natural gas
If you’re planning on using your generator to charge your batteries during a power outage, you should consider converting your generator to use natural gas. This feature is available through many gear manufacturers, so look for one that does this.
With this feature, the manufacturer can control when the generator turns on and off the gas supply. It allows for more consistent charging and saves you from having to manually switch things on and off with a wall charger.
When attempting to do a parallel connection with one of your batteries, turning on the generator will prevent any other battery from being charged via any wall charger. This helps ensure proper charge parity between both batteries.
However, if you want to use the generator without the battery conversion feature, then you must purchase separate devices that connect through an extension cord.
Replace injectors with newer ones
If your engine has a lot of combustion-based misfire codes, you can replace the injectors with newer ones. Autolawn injectors are a good alternative to Bosch and AEM units.
Autolawn injectors are easier to install and do not require removing the valvetrain. You can purchase them at your local hardware store or online at Amazon. They cost about $10 more than Bosch and AEM units, but saved you money in the long run because of fewer code runs.
Listening to codes is critical when fixing an injection problem. If possible, try doing this offline before calling a professional to confirm the code is incorrect.
Have the turbo upgraded or replaced
