Tapeworms are a group of carnivorous invertebrates that include several different species. These parasites live in the gut of many animals, including humans.
These worms are common in the cat care community, where they are called wormies. Wormies can be fun to watch because of their movements. They will typically roll over on their back and look up at you as you move them around!
Unfortunately, some wormies can become infected and start to digest food in this way. This is called tapeworming or caturruloidism. This type of eating is dangerous because it can lead to overeating of other things, including toxic substances.
As we explained at the beginning of this article, catteroles do not allow food or water inside so a tapeworm cannot eat.
Remove tapeworms with lemon juice
Although it may sound outlandish, keeping a cat indoors is a good idea when it comes to tapeworms. outdoorsy cats are likely to spend the day outside, where they can meet other cats and create peer pressure to get professional help.
The outside environment is where the cat catches its worms, which then pass through their bodies and into their system as food.
While outdoors, the cat may also eat native plants and animals, so getting it healthy back inside should help reduce any health issues.
To prevent it from eating anything else, you can use a feeder or put food in the refrigerator or freezer to keep it from eating anything else. Or you can put it on an exclusive diet.
Remove tapeworms with salt
Regularly cleaning your cat’s house and tracks is the best way to prevent tapeworms in cats. There are many ways to remove a tapeworm in your cat, but the easiest is to place a bowl of saltine® crackers in the middle of the floor. The worm will walk across the cracker and into the kitty’s food, where it will dissolve.
Some people recommend using liquid laundry detergent, but this has been shown to cause allergic reactions in some cats. The safest way to remove a worm in a cat is to place an empty tuna can or saltine® cracker on top of a bowl of water with just enough water above it for the bottom of the bowl to be wet.
Remove tapeworms with tea tree oil
Teatree oil is one of the most well-known oils used to fight infections. It can be found in many products, including cleaners and medicinal products for humans.
As its name suggests, teatree oil comes from the tree PentacleonStructrixTretiteae, or Oakapoxa. This oil is often used in kitchens and washrooms as a disinfectant and anti-bacterial agent.
It also has strong antioxidant properties that may help fight infections. Because of this, it has been used as a preventative for sick animals such as dogs and cats.
Because of its strong antioxidant properties, teatree oil can be useful in cleaning up infected organs such as the liver or stomach. However, because it can cause kidney problems in cats, making sure to use it consistently is critical.
Remove tapeworms with peppermint oil
As mentioned earlier, peppermint oil can be very effective at removing hitchhikers such as tapeworms. However, unlike many other oils, which can actually interfere with the functioning of the liver, peppermint oil does not appear to alter the liver function.
Since the liver is involved in digesting and processing drugs and toxins, a Liver Protection Agent is added to processed oils to ensure it does not adversely affect the liver. Since coconut oil does not have this added material, it can be used instead.
By applying a small amount of peppermint oil on the skin around the outside of the cat’s anus once a week, you can remove up to 5–6 worms per week. The procedure may seem tricky at first, so remember there is no risk involved!
If your cat has more than 5–6 worms, consult his veterinarian for remedies such as deworming.
Try baking soda
Another way to get rid of the tapeworm in your cat is to try baking soda. Baking soda is a common household item that many people have. It’s used to make pastry and baking powder. You can buy it at most grocery stores.
Baking soda works by removing moisture from the blood and reducing blood clotting abilities. This may help prevent or reduce the impact of the worm.
How to do it: You first need to give your cat a special diet containing just baking soda and nothing else for three days. Then, you need to mix one part baking soda to four parts water and give it together with another cat as a treat.
You can also try wrapping the afflicted part in tinfoil to cover up any dry skin or put a sock on it to use as an absorbant.
Use prescription medications
Only use nonprescription tapeworm medication if your cat has a worm or parasite problem. Most cats will not eat their medication, and if they do, it will not be effective.
Using prescription tapeworm medications is the best way to treat this issue. Most owners know that their cats do not need to be on the drug for a long time to make a difference, so being on a med for only part of the month is better than no relief at all.
Because these drugs are very expensive, only using what you need can be true with this issue. Some cats may require more than one tablet per day! Luckily, tablets are easy to buy- just look for the generic name on them.
Use homeopathic remedies
It is very important for cats that have tapeworms to know how to use homeopathic remedies. As stated before, surgery is the only way to remove a tapeworm.
As mentioned before, surgery is the only way to remove a tapeworm. Unfortunately, this can be costly for a pet. A qualified vet can typically tell you when a cat has enough worms and healthy skin cells in its feces to consider having surgery.
If your cat has had surgery, it may be time for new drugs. New drugs may work even better than the old ones did, so check with your vet if you need new medication.
Some drug companies have created products that target specific worm stages, making it easier to treat your cat.
Eat more plants to prevent worms
Plants are full of chemicals that can prevent or treat worms. There are many plant foods that your cat may be eating. Bananas, tomatoes, peppers, and mushrooms are all important nutrients for your cat.
These foods should be provided as raw vegetables with added dried and/or fresh herbs. Your cat should not be supplementing these with any kind of food except the plant one.
Dietary tannins in plants may prevent cats from being able to digest them, thus causing a chronic diarrhea. Luckily, this disease is quite rare since it is such a unusual case of tannin dependence.
However, if it happens, then you can try offering some water to help wash away the diarrhea. You can also try giving your cat calamine lattes or other herbal teas to help reduce pain and inflammation.
