Textual evidence for women speaking
There are two examples in the Bible that describe a woman speaking. The first is in Genesis 18:13-19:31, where Noah’s wife Leah married Joseph, Pharaoh’s son.
In this instance, Joseph was the one to speak. He put his Actions into his teachings and conversations with his family and friends. When he spoke to anyone else, they listened and believed what they heard because of that action.
The second example of a woman speaking occurs in 1 Timothy 2:15-16:

There are two notable instances in the book of Samuel in which a woman speaks. The first occurs when Samuel leads a group of children away from their oppressor, and the second occurs when Saul meets up with his family after years apart.
Both cases display positive textual evidence for women speaking. In the first instance, Hannah speaks to the Lord about her situation, and in response God uses her son Asa to speak at her behalf.

There are two basic questions that people ask about authority. Does the person have authority? and What does the person do with the authority they have?
In Bible class, these questions can be asked of women’s leadership. Does the woman have an influence on her fellow students? Is she responsible for teaching her classes?
Or does the man have an influence on his students? Is he responsible for teaching their class? Is it legal for a woman to speak in Bible class unless there is a change in leadership?
The answers to these questions can be complicated, and may depend on who is asking the question. In Bible class, these questions are asked of women’s leadership.
Who is she speaking to?
Who is speaking in the paragraph above? A woman! As a man, you can teach with passion, but as a man, you can also be passionate about something else. As a woman, you can speak with conviction and love.
As a man, you can transition into a teacher with your passion for teaching. You can find your groove quickly and become very active and involved with the students. As a woman, you have more of a soothing voice and presence.
You may be able to try speaking out of habit or because you feel like it or because it’s what people need to hear but on your own, on an individual level,you may choose to speak in an authoritative voice that carries weight.
This is something that can be done on both sides of the camera.
What is being discussed?
In Bible class, people speak in ways that are not biblical. People use non-biblical language, formulas for discussion, and/or combine concepts with non-Biblical sources.
When we look at the way people talk today, it is easy to forget that it was not always this way. In the past, people did not have the vocabulary or the concept of being in a relationship with another person to create a marriage, but only as a voluntary divorce.
Today, we have so many things to talk about that we need ways to keep our conversation going. We need formulas for discussion and ideas for teaching and because of this, people must be conscious of what they are saying and how they are saying it.
There are several ways for a person in Bible class to speak which are not biblical? can be observed in today?s society. These include using non-biblical language, combining concepts with non-Biblical sources, and using generic terms such as?always? or?always?s.
Is she qualified?
Are there certain languages she should be able to speak? If not, her teacher should make her qualify herself by speaking in the language of the class, or by introducing herself in the language of the class.
Speaking a language is a very individualized process. Some people can’t even speak but what the world says, but it’s important to understand that everyone has a different way of expressing themselves.
By introducing yourself and your surroundings in the language of the classroom, it makes it easier for others to understand you. Plus, if something important happens and you didn’t get an opportunity to talk, someone can easily find out what was going on with them through their behavior and words.

Women may speak when invited to do so. However, women do not speak for themselves! They are capable of understanding words but not speaking.

It is important to recognize that women do not have a voice in Bible class, so having a recognition of this fact can help create a more comfortable environment for them to learn and share.
